Many Corporations Are Starting to Showcase Interest in NFTs
Tinder posted a tweet where they indicated that they are interested in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as well as female artists. The tweet said: “Which female artists and creators should we be following in the NFT space?”.
This presents a solid opportunity for the promotion of female artists within the NFT space. Mark Zuckerberg said that Instagram would welcome NFTs soon as well. Specifically, development is still on the way and would see the integration of NFTs within the company’s photo and video sharing apps as the Instagram team is working on some of the technical challenges associated with it.
According to a blog post published by The Sandbox, the banking giant HSBC partnered up with them as a means of acquiring a plot of land within the virtual world, which will be developed for sports, e-sports, gaming, and finance professionals. Weibo, which is a social media platform known as the Chinese equivalent of Twitter with over 249 million daily active users, also launched an NFT marketplace that allows users to mint posts.
Ethereum’s Merge Was Successful on the Kiln Testnet, MetaMask Passed 30 Million Users and Optimism Saved Users $1 Billion in Ethereum Fees, while BYAC creator announced ApeCoin
Ethereum's Merge occurred on March 15, when it merged the Beacon Chain with Kiln. The Ethereum Foundation asked stakeholders to essentially carry out tests within Kiln, and the Merge will also take place on existing tesntets within the upcoming months.
Additionally, ConsenSys, which is a crypto software giant, announced that the MetaMask wallet, which people use as a means of storing Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies, has surpassed 30 million monthly active users.
This reflects a 42% increase in the last four months, when MetaMask reported 21 million users. The popular Ethereum scaling solution known as Optimism has raised $150 million in a Series B round which was co-led by a16z. The platform is as such, now valued at $1.65 billion. According to an official blog post, Optimism has saved Ethereum network users more than a billion dollars in gas fees within the span of a year.
Yuga Labs, the creator of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BYAC), announced ApeCoin (APE). This token is intended to be used within the BAYC ecosystem and comes after Yuga Labs bought the rights to the CryptoPunks and Meebits NFT collections from Larva Labs.
Microsoft has Invested in Ethereum co-founder’s star-up ConsenSys
ConsenSys was founded in 2014 by Joseph Lubin, who is a co-founder of Ethereum, a company that has recently raised $450 million in a funding round that is backed by Microsoft, SoftBank, and Temasek.
The investment more than doubled ConsenSys’s valuation, which is now at $7 billion.
This funding round was led by ParaFi Capital, with Microsoft, Japan's SoftBank, and Singapore's Temasek joining as new investors within the company.
This is also an indication that technology giants, such as Microsoft and even Twitter, are becoming a lot more interested in Web3.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Signed a Bill Legalizing Crypto in Ukraine and Dubai Granted Crypto Exchange Bitcoin a Virtual Asset License for Regional Operations
In an official Twitter post by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a bill legalizing cryptocurrency into law after a huge amount of digital asset donations were received as a means of funding Ukraine's struggle against the Russian invasion. Ukraine has received over $100 million in cryptocurrency donations thus far.
Furthermore, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance Holdings Ltd., was granted a license that allows it to conduct operations in Dubai. From there, it has plans on carrying out regional business. This license came from Dubai’s Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA). The crypto company will also anchor a blockchain technology hub within the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
