Maza is the official reserve currency of the Oglala Lakota Nation of North and South Dakota. The Oglala Lakota Nation, a semi-autonomous North American Indian reservation in South Dakota, has been seeking full recognition as an independent nation since the 1970s.
Background
Maza was developed by Payu Harris, a native American activist, web developer, and digital currency trader. Harris aimed to bring attention to the Oglala Lakota Nation’s quest for sovereignty through the creation of Maza. The digital currency is a fork of Zetacoin and was launched on February 7, 2014, with the symbol MZC.
Features
Maza is primarily used as a digital currency designed to benefit the Lakota people. It has a reserve of 10 million coins set aside for a Lakota development fund. While Maza shares technical similarities with Bitcoin, Harris’s focus is not on competing with other alt coins but rather on building a sovereign monetary system for indigenous people.
Goals
