The Sandbox is an Ethereum-based application that creates a decentralized virtual gaming world.

The Sandbox is a game that allows players to acquire a digital plot of land, called LAND, and use them to build experiences that they can share with other players. In this way, The Sandbox is similar to Decentraland as a blockchain-based metaverse.

The Sandbox's two other native tokens, in addition to the NFT-type LAND token, govern the operations of its metaverse:

  • SAND tokens - Used to execute various transactions in the game, such as buying LAND, interacting with user-generated content, and staking it to participate in the governance of the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

  • ASSET tokens – Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) representing in-game items such as equipment for avatars and creations that are used to populate LAND. They may be bartered in the marketplace of The Sandbox.
