Stratis is a blockchain development platform targeting financial services and organisations wanting to build, test, and implement apps on the blockchain. It eases the process of creating blockchain applications and improves their development lifecycle. It allows businesses to create bespoke blockchains without the cost of setting up the infrastructure. Stratis aspires to be a one-stop-shop for blockchain through a blockchain-as-a-service (BAAS) platform. Technically, it is based on Bitcoin's core code, but has some enhancements and is written in C# rather than C++. The UK-based team has global members, many experienced in developing enterprise software using .NET and C#. Stratis competes with other BAAS projects in a crowded but large area, its main competitor being Lisk. A decrease in privacy could deter corporations wanting to keep code proprietary. Stratis raised 915 Bitcoin in an initial coin offering (ICO) in June 2016.
