The Standard Protocol is a lending protocol and stablecoin based on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It allows users to lock assets in a smart contract and mint new stablecoins as loans against these assets without interest. The first stablecoin minted from this protocol was Standard Euro (sEURO) with an unlimited supply. The founders of The Standard Protocol are Joshua Scigala, Philip Scigala, Ana Valdes, and Simon Morley, all of whom were part of the team that created Vaultoro.com - the first bitcoin/physical gold exchange. The protocol aims to release a stablecoin for every major fiat currency, using an initial bonding curve (IBCO) mechanism. Its second priority involves the development of private vaults for holding blue chip cryptocurrencies and reducing borrower liquidations by enabling collateral conversion into more stable assets, or by selling smart vault debt as an NFT.
