Overview
saffron.finance is a decentralized protocol designed for on-chain asset tokenization and optimizing liquidity provider yields. It allows yield farmers to have dynamic exposure to the market and enables them to select a portfolio according to their risk appetite through tranches.
Functionality
Users deposit their assets into the platform, which are then deployed to saffron.finance's lending platforms via a liquidity pool. These assets yield combined interest. Adaptors automatically distribute saffron's liquidity pools to lending protocols with the highest yield. The liquidity pools can be supplied at any time by liquidity providers, while the assets and generated interest can only be withdrawn at the end of every epoch (every two weeks).
Tranches
saffron.finance offers different tranches, including S tranche, Yield Enhanced A tranche, and Risk Mitigated AA tranche. Participants in the A tranche are required to stake Saffron.Finance tokens to protect themselves from disruptions of the underlying lending platforms, resulting in higher interest rates due to higher exposure to risks.
Use Cases of SFI Tokens
SFI tokens are primarily used to gain access to the protocol's tranches by staking them. SFI stakers also receive governance rights, allowing them to vote on decisions regarding the future development of saffron.finance.
History
saffron.finance was first announced by an anonymous developer in a Medium article and was formally launched on the Ethereum mainnet in November 2020. The founder, known by the pseudonym Psykeeper, has extensive experience in the cryptocurrency industry.
Tokenomics
The maximum supply of SFI tokens is 100,000. Initially, 40,000 SFI tokens were minted as part of the saffron.finance token offering. The majority of the SFI token supply (60%) is dedicated to liquidity providers, with the remaining portion distributed to the core team and set aside in the saffron.finance treasury.
