Founded in 2018 by three programmers from Silicon Valley, NKN aspires to create the world’s largest blockchain network for sharing internet connectivity, focusing on enhancing internet infrastructure and promoting network sharing and net neutrality. The project uses a novel consensus algorithm called Proof of Relay (PoR), which incentivizes nodes to share network bandwidth and secure the network, fostering a more efficient and fair distribution of rewards and a self-organizing network. NKN’s decentralized model seeks to democratize access to a more robust and user-governed internet infrastructure by leveraging idle resources and integrating economic incentives with the core operational mechanics of the network.
