MultiBTC, launched by Multichain, is a wrapped token that combines features from the two most popular blockchain ecosystems. Unique aspects of the project include the token's ability to be redeemed even in cases of cross-chain bridge suspension, its easy use on the Multichain router, the low fees for bridging BTC to Ethereum and the Bitcoin network, and its effect on the liquidity of the wrapped Bitcoin on the Ethereum blockchain. The project was launched on December 17, 2022, and its goal is to make MultiBTC a mainstream wrapped BTC and provide more opportunities for BTC users within Ethereum. The token can be used to bring Bitcoin to defi by representing BTC as an ERC-20 token since the Bitcoin network does not support defi applications directly.
