Lido on Kusama is a liquid staking protocol built on the Kusama chain. This platform enables users to earn staking rewards on the Kusama chain without locking KSM or maintaining staking infrastructure. Lido on Kusama makes KSMs liquid while staking, ensuring maximized yield and availability of staking and making leverage options possible while being decentralized and secure.
Users can deposit KSM to the Lido smart contract, receiving stKSM or wstKSM tokens. Unlike staked KSM on the Kusama network, stKSM and wstKSM tokens are freely transferable, without liquidity limitations. Token balances correspond to the withdrawable KSM on the Kusama chain.
This functionality is achieved through permissionless validator node selection, dynamic reallocation algorithms, and slashing hedging deployed on Moonbeam parachain and empowered by the XC-20 cross-chain token standard.
Additionally, wstKSM is a wrapped version of stKSM, addressing the need for constant balance mechanisms in some DeFi protocols. wstKSM maintains a fixed balance and uses an underlying share system to reflect earned staking rewards.
