vDOT (voucher DOT) is a liquid staking derivative of staked DOT, allowing users to convert DOT into vDOT through the Bifrost SLP protocol. Benefits of using vDOT include liquid staking, automatic staking rewards, a flexible redemption period of 28 days or less, higher staking yield, and multi-environment compatibility. Holding vDOT is equivalent to holding the DOT staking position, with staking rewards increasing the exchange value of vDOT. vDOT can be traded in the open market, used in DeFi for additional rewards, and redeemed back to DOT. By matching minting and redemption quantities, the system can theoretically achieve second-level redemption. Finally, vDOT is compatible with EVM, WASM, and Substrate-compatible parachains due to HRMP channels between Bifrost and others.
