Marlin is an open protocol designed to provide a high-performance programmable network infrastructure for modern decentralized networks, such as DeFi and Web 3.0. This infrastructure aims to enhance the efficiency and scalability of blockchain network transactions, making the performance of decentralized applications comparable to those of their Web 2.0 counterparts.
Marlin Relay Network
The Marlin Relay network is a blockchain-agnostic, permissionless network with built-in incentivization. Consisting of four entities—producers, receivers, relayers, and clusters—it ensures trustless nodes can contribute resources without compromising security guarantees. Producers introduce blocks, which are divided into chunks using erasure coding and propagated deterministically to specific clusters. Relayers within these clusters then forward the blocks to receivers, who can reconstruct the complete block from a subset of the chunks. Each relayer that participates in the fastest propagation receives receipts, which are used to distribute rewards.
Features and Token Uses
Marlin supports faster transfer of data and transactions between miners, full nodes, and layer 0 users. Its native token, POND, is used for various purposes:
- Fee payment
- Incentivizing relay nodes
- Pledging for relay node qualification
- Governance of the network via DAO and community building
- Token has a total circulation of 10 billion
Additional tools and features include:
- MarlinVM, which provides developers with a router interface and facilities for scalability, anonymity, and caching solutions.
- Marlin SDK for low-latency communication
- Marlin Cache as a decentralized content delivery network
- Marlin Gateway for low-latency data exchange
