This unique methodology avoids the intrinsic dependency on a bridging protocol and ensures a diversified composition.
Index Composition and Weighting
ic21 employs a square root market capitalization methodology to determine the weights of its constituent assets. This approach reduces the concentration of assets like BTC and ETH and provides more diversification among the other eight assets. A 30-day simple moving average is applied to market capitalization data to mitigate the impact of short-term price movements and reduce unnecessary churn during rebalancing periods.

- Rebalancing: ic21 rebalances semi-annually via dutch auctions, ensuring efficient rebalances and minimizing potential NAV decay. The token holders do not bear any gas fees for rebalancing.
