HTMLCOIN is the base currency for the Althash hybrid blockchain, a decentralized Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake blockchain that integrates Ethereum elements to run decentralized applications (Dapps) and create Ethereum-based smart contracts. This allows the Althash blockchain to support spins-off of multiple tokens on its platform, powered through HTMLCOIN. The HTMLCOIN network is protected using a Double SHA-256 algorithm which is more difficult to break compared to SHA-256, with safeguards against 51% attacks. Its design also allows the addition of more virtual machines if needed. HTMLCOIN's creator, Amando Boncales, founded it as a means to move away from a centralized system. The Althash blockchain additionally offers services such as a desktop and mobile digital wallet, and runs a certification program through Althash University to prepare professionals for future blockchain challenges.
