Drawings & Symbols
Flash supports two primary types of objects: Drawings and Symbols. Drawings are created using vector editing tools such as the Pencil, Brush, Oval, and Rectangle. They have stroke and fill properties that can be reshaped using specific tools.
Symbols
Symbols are reusable objects that can be created from Drawings, collections of Drawings, other Symbols, or external files like JPGs and PNGs. There are three types of Symbols: Movie Clips, Graphic symbols, and Button symbols. These Symbols can be applied with dynamic actions through ActionScript.
Library Structure
The library is where all Symbols are stored. Organizing the library by type saves time and improves workflow, especially in team projects. When you need to modify a Symbol, any changes are automatically applied to its instances throughout the project.
Flash Interface
The Flash interface consists of the Stage, where all compositional elements are arranged, and the Timeline, where frames are managed. The Properties tab displays specific settings for each tool and object. The library tab is used to manage Symbols.
