DeFiChain is designed to be non-Turing complete, which reduces smart contract errors and ensures that only financial transactions are possible on the platform. This architecture limits the potential for non-financial applications like games and casinos, preventing high transaction fees and maintaining the focus on decentralized finance (DeFi).

DeFiChain offers a range of DeFi services, including decentralized exchanges, lending, and token wrapping. Its native cryptocurrency, DFI, is used to pay transaction fees, participate in governance, and access DeFi services. The platform is designed to be scalable, with a block time of 30 seconds and a throughput of 40 transactions per second, ensuring fast and secure transactions at low fees.

Community Governance

DeFiChain is a community-driven project, where users and stakeholders can propose and vote on changes to the platform. The governance system includes DeFiChain Improvement Proposals (DFIPs) and Community Funding Proposals (CFPs), which allow anyone to submit proposals for modifying the blockchain or financing specific projects that benefit the community. Masternode holders evaluate and vote on these proposals to ensure the platform evolves according to user needs.

MetaChain Layer

DeFiChain is transitioning into a hybrid architecture with the MetaChain layer, which integrates the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) with DeFiChain. This integration will allow for greater innovation in the ecosystem, splitting the platform into UTXO, token systems, and EVM accounts. The Transfer Domain Transaction (TX) will facilitate asset transfers between domains, maintaining a coherent accounting layer.
