Backed is a project that provides real-world assets such as stocks or ETFs to the blockchain, with its product bHIGH tracking the iShares € High Yield Corp Bond UCITS ETF. Backed's uniqueness comes from its issuance of permissionless tokens (bTokens) representing ownership of structured products, with 1:1 backing by the underlying assets. The project was started in 2021 in Switzerland and released its first tokenized product on Ethereum in early 2023. Backed aims to establish a standard for tokenization and to provide clients access to sustainable, low-risk yields without needing to exchange crypto to fiat currency. However, Backed does not sell its tokens to U.S. Persons or in any other prohibited jurisdictions.
