Backed is a project that brings real-world assets to blockchain rails, like stocks or ETFs. Its product bCOIN is a tracker certificate issued as an ERC-20 token, allowing eligible cryptocurrency market participants regulatory-compliant access to the stock price of Coinbase. Backed issues permissionless tokens (bTokens), which are 1:1 backed by underlying assets, held by Swiss third-party custodians, and are bankruptcy remote. Backed hopes to create a network of protocols benefitting from RWAs on-chain, enabling clients to access sustainable, low-risk yields without going through TradFi onboarding processes. bTokens are used by many different entities, but not available to U.S. Persons, or in any other prohibited jurisdiction.
