Overview
Tornado Cash is an open-source, non-custodial, and fully decentralized cryptocurrency tumbler running on Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible networks. It offers a privacy tool that mixes potentially identifiable or "tainted" cryptocurrency funds with others, making it difficult to trace the funds to their original source.
Key Features
- It uses multiple smart contracts to accept ETH and ERC-20 deposits.
- These deposits can later be withdrawn to different addresses by providing cryptographic proofs, breaking the link between the sender and the recipient.
- Zero-knowledge proofs (zk-SNARKs) are used to increase privacy, making it impossible to link withdrawals to their deposits.
