Power Ledger is an Australian-based energy trading platform that uses blockchain technology and cryptocurrency to facilitate the decentralised buying and selling of renewable energy. The platform, which has access to global energy markets, is designed to adapt to a range of energy infrastructures and regulations. It uses two blockchain layers, POWR and Sparkz, for operations. Power Ledger's team comprises six directors, including five co-founders and venture capitalist Bill Tai. The platform raised AUD34m ($25m) through a presale and initial coin offering. It was also awarded an AUD8m grant by the Australian government to further develop its technology.
