Onomy Protocol is a Cosmos-based Layer-1 blockchain that powers a multi-chain DEX (Decentralized Exchange) combining AMM (Automated Market Maker) liquidity pools with a traditional order book interface. This DEX supports cross-chain market, limit, stop, and conditional orders, providing a more comprehensive trading experience.
The protocol also bridges traditional finance and decentralized finance (DeFi) by facilitating the migration of foreign exchange markets on-chain through the use of crypto-collateralized stablecoins. These stablecoins can be used for high-frequency Forex trading, yield generation, and payments, all accessible via a cross-chain super app connecting various DeFi components.
The native token, NOM, plays a vital role in the Onomy ecosystem, serving as collateral for stablecoin minting, ensuring network security through staking, participating in protocol governance, and receiving rewards.
