Origin
It began as a Scrypt Proof of Stake (PoS) coin with 221,400 initial coins and a 15% annual stake. It was not created via an Initial Coin Offering (ICO).
Algorithm
SpiderByte uses a hybrid algorithm, initially only Proof of Stake and later adding Proof of Work in 2018. The block reward initially started at 2 LCP and reduced by 0.25 LCP every 200,000 blocks until it reached 0.5 LCP. Since then, the reward and PoS percentage are dynamically adjusted to avoid depletion of remaining coins.
PALADIN-51 System
In 2020, the PALADIN-51 system was introduced, allowing for dynamic changes to blockchain parameters through community votes. This helps reduce the need for mandatory software upgrades and supports further growth.
Re-branding
On April 22nd, 2022, PALADIN Software Development Pte. Ltd. was established, marking the re-branding of Litecoin Plus to SpiderByte. The company is based in Singapore and dedicated to the development and support of SpiderByte.
