Liberland, a country founded in 2015 by blockchain enthusiasts, uses a Substrate-based blockchain system to provide e-government services. This system, known as the Liberland Blockchain, is a public layer 1 blockchain governed by holders of its native tokens - the Liberland Dollar (LLD) and Liberland Merit (LLM). Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are also supported, representing land and other assets, and a decentralised identity solution is implemented. The blockchain is permissionless for token and coin usage but requires permissions for advanced functionalities. Future plans include an online judiciary system, making contracts executable on the blockchain and providing legal recourse for fraud and theft.
