Habitat is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) solution built on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing Layer-2 infrastructure. It creates an application-specific optimistic rollup, allowing each community or project to operate independently and securely, with control over their rules, tokens, and governance.
The platform grows and adapts based on signals from DAOs and users, enabling communities to build their organization solutions with crowdfunded features and modules. The HBT token holders govern the rollup by proposing parameter changes and new feature requests, ensuring full ownership and control by the community members. Rollup operator profits are distributed among HBT holders and stakers.
Habitat was developed without any involvement from venture capitalists (VCs) or future agreements. The project had a Fair Launch in March 2021, allowing active participation since then.
