Freicoin is a decentralized, peer-to-peer electronic currency designed to address the grievances of the working class and realign financial interests of the wealthy elite with the stability and well-being of the economy as a whole. It is based on the accounting concept of a proof-of-work block chain used by Satoshi Nakamoto in the creation of Bitcoin. Unlike traditional inflationary currencies, Freicoin incorporates a demurrage fee, proposing that holders of the coin will have negative interest rates to increase the velocity of money and reduce the incentive to save. This demurrage fee is aligned with the principles of Silvio Gesell, aiming to eliminate the privileged position held by money. Fees taken for holding coins are distributed to miners to incentivize network security.
Freicoin's parameters are designed to maintain a stable long-term value without price inflation or deflation, and it encourages sustainable investments by removing the time preference inherent in traditional currencies. The currency uses a merged mining technology, allowing network operators to secure both the Freicoin and Bitcoin networks simultaneously, thus increasing overall security.
