Frax Ether is a liquid staking derivative issued by the Frax Finance protocol. Each frxETH is backed by at least 1 ETH in validator nodes at all times. This innovative derivative has been designed to make staking more convenient and profitable.
Key Features
- Collateralization Model: The amount of frxETH in circulation always matches the amount of ETH staked in Frax.
- Components: The Frax Ether system comprises three core components: frxETH (liquid ETH staking derivative), sfrxETH (staked version of frxETH), and the Frax ETH Minter.
- Frax ETH Minter: Allows the exchange of ETH for frxETH, bringing ETH into the Frax ecosystem.
- Stablecoin: frxETH acts as a stablecoin loosely pegged to ETH, ensuring 1 frxETH always represents 1 ETH.
- Yield Accrual: sfrxETH accrues staking yield from Frax ETH validators, with profit distributed to sfrxETH holders.
- Composability: Liquid staking simplifies the staking process and allows yield to be earned on any amount of ETH, with withdrawals available at any time, enabling greater composability throughout DeFi.
