EURC, formerly known as Euro Coin, is a fiat-backed stablecoin pegged to the value of the euro. It is issued by Circle, the same company behind the popular US dollar stablecoin, USDC. EURC is designed to be stable and 100% backed by euros held in euro-denominated banking accounts. Each EURC token is redeemable 1:1 for the euro currency.

How it Works

EURC is a cash-collateralized stablecoin, meaning that Circle maintains an equivalent value of real-world assets as the total EURC tokens issued. These assets are held in the custody of leading financial institutions and are reviewed monthly by Grant Thornton LLP to provide assurance that EURC remains fully backed by euros or euro-denominated assets.

Availability

EURC is hosted on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token and can be traded on centralized and decentralized exchanges. It can be found on exchanges like Bitstamp and decentralized platforms such as Curve and Uniswap.
