DERO aims to create a sound monetary framework that safeguards global user privacy and empowers free markets while providing complete auditability.

DERO’s technology includes the first homomorphic encryption blockchain protocol, ensuring that all transactions and interactions with smart contracts within the network are never decrypted by anyone except their owner. This is achieved through a unique homomorphic encryption scheme called DERO-HE and the DERO Homomorphic Encryption Blockchain Protocol (DHEBP).

Key features of DERO include a homomorphic encryption account model, human-readable addresses (usernames), efficient and decentralized proof-of-work mining, instant coin and token balance syncing, native token transfers via the wallet, support for both public and private token smart contracts, web socket support for decentralized applications, fast transaction settlement (approximately 18 seconds per block), blockchain pruning (light nodes), and a fixed supply with halving.

DERO is built from scratch in Golang, focusing on enhanced privacy, smart contracts, and security. It incorporates cutting-edge technologies like Rocket Bulletproofs, GravitonDB, AstroBWT, and Σ mining. The DERO Virtual Machine (DVM) supports private smart contracts and services.
