Darkcoin
Darkcoin is an experimental crypto project, initially known as XCoin. It was launched in January 2014 and rebranded as Darkcoin. Today, it is known as Dash. It is a two-tiered open-source blockchain network focused on offering fast, cheap, and private global payments. Darkcoin was developed by Evan Duffield and uses a proof-of-work mining algorithm along with an X11 algorithm that executes 11 different hashing functions through masternodes. The masternode layer acts as a transaction mixer and serves as the voting mechanism for on-chain governance. The project aims to improve upon Bitcoin by providing stronger privacy and faster transactions.
