BoringDAO is a cross-chain service provider that enables the secure and decentralized transfer of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), between various blockchains using bi-directional bridges called tunnels. These tunnels are permissionless and governed by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). The native governance and utility token of BoringDAO is BORING (BOR), which has a fixed maximum supply of 2 billion tokens.
BoringDAO facilitates the wrapping of non-ERC-20 tokens into ERC-20 tokens called oTokens, allowing assets from other blockchains to participate in DeFi and earn passive rewards. Users can engage in the minting process, operate tunnels, or participate in yield farming to earn BORING tokens. Governance in BoringDAO is decentralized, with BORING holders able to propose and vote on measures such as adding new asset multi-signers, adjusting system parameters, and managing the treasury.
BoringDAO's infrastructure has been audited by blockchain security firms like Certik and Peckshield. The project supports multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Fantom, and has facilitated significant transactions, including over 13,000 BTC transfers.
