Boosted LUSD (BLUSD)
Boosted LUSD (BLUSD) is a novel bonding mechanism designed to acquire protocol-owned liquidity (POL) for Liquity. It allows users to earn an amplified yield on their LUSD holdings compared to traditional deposits in the Stability Pool.
To use Chicken Bonds, you need a crypto wallet, such as MetaMask, connected to the Ethereum mainnet. You can bond LUSD in exchange for bLUSD, which offers a boosted yield. Alternatively, you can purchase bLUSD on the open market, such as the bLUSD/LUSD-3CRV Curve pool.
Dynamics of Chicken Bonds
- Bonding LUSD: By depositing LUSD into the system, users accrue a virtual balance of bLUSD over time. This bLUSD can be redeemed for a proportional share of the system's reserve LUSD.
- Yield Amplification: The yield generated by bLUSD is higher than the yield earned by LUSD in the Stability Pool. This amplified yield is due to the compound interest effect.
- Dynamic NFTs: Chicken Bonds introduces Dynamic NFTs, which change their visual representation based on users' bonding actions and are unique to the bonds they hold.
Liquidity Buckets
Chicken Bonds uses three global LUSD buckets:
- Pending Bucket: Contains the LUSD from all open bonds.
- Reserve Bucket: Holds all LUSD that can be redeemed by burning bLUSD.
- Permanent Bucket: Contains all protocol-owned LUSD and remains untouched by redemptions.
Actions Users Can Take

- Create a bond, accrue bLUSD, and redeem it for enhanced yield.
- Trade LUSD for bLUSD on the Curve pool.

- Trade bLUSD for LUSD on the Curve pool.
- Redeem bLUSD for LUSD.
Mechanics
- Chicken In: Users can claim their accrued bLUSD.
- Chicken Out: Users can cancel their bond and reclaim their principal.
Chicken Bonds strategically manages the movement of LUSD between vaults to ensure the liquidity and stability of the system.
