Biochar (CHAR) is a type of carbon removal asset that is minted when users deposit eligible carbon removal assets into the Biochar carbon pool. This pool allows suppliers to convert their Puro.earth CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs) into CHAR, which operates on an open market infrastructure. This provides a highly liquid market for buying and selling biochar credits, offering transparent pricing and instant settlement.
The Pool
The CHAR carbon pool aggregates CORCs from various biochar projects on a single platform. The project composition and number of credits within the pool are always transparent. Suppliers can freely deposit their CORCs and receive CHAR tokens. Buyers have the ability to select specific projects from which to redeem their credits at any time. The pool has been designed to support liquidity in the biochar market, facilitating quick and easy transactions 24/7.
