AirTor Protocol is a decentralized system that aims to enhance internet privacy by incentivizing the distribution of bandwidth and computing resources. It accomplishes this through on-chain incentives and the development of specialized hardware products.
The AirTor ecosystem includes several key components:
- A framework that rewards existing Tor relays with cryptocurrency (ATOR) based on their cumulative uptime, known as Proof-of-Uptime.
- The AirTor Router Hotspot, a handheld device that enables consumers to connect and route their web traffic through Tor without scripts.
- The AirTor Relay, designed to seamlessly interoperate with the Proof-of-Uptime framework, allowing users to mine ATOR and contribute to web anonymity through Tor.
AirTor is driven by a vision to provide users with complete internet privacy, with plans to integrate Long-Range Radio (LoRa) into its ecosystem. This will allow users to replace part or all of their web traffic route to achieve greater physical independence.
