Melania Trump Tweets About Bitcoin’s Genesis Block
Melania Trump made a tweet where she essentially celebrated the 13th anniversary of the first Bitcoin block, in other words, the Genesis block.
The tweet went viral, and on it, she attached the raw hex version of the very first block, where its coin base parameter contained a London Times headline about bank bailouts. “Block zero” was mined by Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto on Jan. 3, 2009, and this anniversary was widely celebrated by many prominent members of the crypto community, including Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey.
China’s Digital Yuan Wallet Went Live on App Stores in Its Pilot Mode
The pilot version of e-CNY, which is the mobile wallet specifically developed for China’s digital yuan, went live on both the iOS as well as the Android app store in China. This allowed individual users to download a version of the application with the intention of trying out the personal wallet opening and management process, as well as the e-CNY exchange and circulation services.
OpenSea Valued at $13.3 Billion in a New Round
Through a $300 million investment round, initially led by Paradigm and Coatue, OpenSea has cemented itself as one of the most valuable private cryptocurrency companies that deal with non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
OpenSea even made an announcement that the investors valued it at $13.3 billion at the Series C funding round, which was up from the 1.5 billion valuations in a $100 million Series B round originally announced last July. OpenSea announced plans on using the fund for product development, hiring, and startup investment to improve customer support and customer safety.
Goldman Claims Bitcoin $100,000 Is a Possibility
According to Goldman, Bitcoin’s market capitalization is just under $700 billion, a number that accounts for a 20% share of the store of value market, which comprises Bitcoin and gold. Bitcoin can take the market share from gold as a part of the broader adoption of cryptocurrencies, which makes $100,000 a possibility. The value of gold has been estimated to be $2.6 trillion.
Vitalik Buterin Claims That Ethereum’s Development Is 50% Complete
Through an episode of the Bankless podcast, the Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, discussed his plans in terms of making Ethereum 2.0 a huge success. With the goal of achieving ultimate scalability and centralization, Ethereum has to be more agile and lightweight in terms of blockchain data so more people can manage and use it.
Buterin also proposed a new multidimensional Ethereum fee structure, titled “Multidimensional EIP-1559”, where he took note of the different resources in the Ethereum Virtual Machines, which have different demands in terms of their usage.
