The xcDOT Project
The xcDOT project is a key integration on Moonbeam, a leading Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform within the Polkadot network. This integration allows DOT tokens to be used within Moonbeam’s DeFi ecosystem, making it the first XCM integration on the platform. As an XC-20 token, xcDOT is designed to be compatible with the ERC-20 standard, making it accessible for use in various decentralized applications such as exchanges, staking protocols, and lending and borrowing platforms.
xcDOT tokens can be transferred to Moonbeam from the Polkadot Relay Chain using the Parachain Bridges feature on the Moonbeam dApp. Once on Moonbeam, these tokens can be interacted with in the same manner as typical ERC-20 tokens. Users can send, receive, and utilize xcDOT tokens without any bridging requirements, thanks to Moonbeam’s cross-chain capabilities. Additionally, users can reverse the process by transferring their xcDOT tokens back to Polkadot where they are converted back to DOT.
