The Worldcoin project aims to develop a global identity and financial network system called World ID. This system will allow users to verify their humanness online while preserving their privacy. Platforms that integrate with World ID, including web3 systems, social networking sites, and government programs, will be able to confirm if a user is real and unique. This could allow for fair distribution of tokens or governmental resources and could also play a role in global democratic processes. Users must visit a physical imaging device, the Orb, to verify their World ID, after which they can receive grants of WLD tokens, which are used to participate in governing the Worldcoin protocol.
