Unicly Genesis MoonCats Collection (UGMC) is a digital collectible bundle consisting of 24 unique Genesis MoonCats, representing 25% of all Genesis MoonCats in existence. The bundle is composed of 12 black and 12 white Genesis MoonCats, which have been fractionalized on the Unicly platform.

Genesis MoonCats

Genesis MoonCats are distinct from the main MoonCats collection, identified by their deep black and milky white coats. Only 64 Genesis MoonCats have purely black or white coats, while the rest display grey shades. Genesis MoonCats have various expressions and were initially released in batches of 16. The adoption process involved burning Ether by sending it to an inaccessible address.

Naming and Characteristics

One notable feature of Genesis MoonCats is the "Irrevocable Naming" system, where owners can choose to name their MoonCat. Names are limited to 32 bytes (8-32 characters in UTF-8) and cannot be changed once set. Collectors can use the official Acclimator to wrap and access their MoonCats.

History and Development

The original MoonCats were created in 2017 by developers Ponderware, making them the first on-chain generative NFTs built on Ethereum. The project was initially launched with over four billion possible MoonCats variations, but only 25,600 were added to the smart contract. MoonCats lore revolves around "saving" the cats from a solar eclipse by rescuing them as NFTs on Ethereum.
