TrueFreeze is a fully decentralized proof of patience protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to lock ETH for a specified period between 1 and 1,100 days. In return, users receive two tokens: a Certificate of Deposit NFT and tokenized patience tokens called freezer-ETH (frETH).

TrueFreeze is a fully decentralized proof of patience protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to lock ETH for a specified period between 1 and 1,100 days. In return, users receive two tokens: a Certificate of Deposit NFT and tokenized patience tokens called freezer-ETH (frETH).

Certificates of Deposit NFTs

These NFTs represent the locked position and can be traded on any NFT marketplace like zero-coupon bonds. They can also be held until the maturity date and redeemed for the underlying ETH.

Freezer-ETH (frETH)

The frETH tokens are bought and sold, and users can withdraw early by paying a small ETH fee (0.25%) and a variable frETH fee. The fee for early withdrawal increases if done before the end of the first two-thirds of the lock time.

Functionality and Revenue Distribution

The protocol operates autonomously without human intervention and includes a revenue stream. Fees generated from early withdrawals are distributed to stakers of the FRZ token. The FRZ token supply increases over time, and new tokens are distributed to users who burn frETH. This mechanism reduces the volatility of ETH by absorbing market fluctuations into the frETH and FRZ token values.
