THORChain
THORChain is an independent blockchain that also functions as a permissionless cross-chain liquidity network. It supports interoperability among various blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Cosmos Hub, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. The native token of THORChain is RUNE, which is used for staking and bonding in the network.
THORChain uses the Cosmos-Tendermint BFT consensus mechanism, which operates a proof-of-stake system. The platform encourages nodes to bond RUNE tokens to achieve optimal liquidity and security. Additionally, THORChain employs the concept of the "incentive pendulum" to maintain a balance between bonded and staked tokens.
The network operates on a decentralized, non-custodial, and trustless model, allowing users to swap native assets directly between different blockchains without the need for wrapped or derivative assets. Nodes serving the network can be anonymous and join or leave the network continuously, ensuring decentralization and resistance to capture.
The project focuses on improving three key areas: Security, Liquidity, and Volume. THORChain contributors work towards enhancing the overall performance of the network by developing new features and primitives, which undergo community governance and testing processes.
