Terra Classic is a blockchain protocol that uses fiat-pegged stablecoins for price-stable global payment systems. It aims to combine the price stability and wide adoption of fiat currencies with the censorship-resistance of Bitcoin. Terra Classic was originally launched in 2019 and supported various stablecoins, including U.S. dollar, South Korean won, and Mongolian tugrik pegged coins. After a hard fork in 2022, the original Terra Chain was rebranded as Terra Classic, and its native token LUNA was renamed to LUNA Classic (LUNC). The new chain, Terra 2.0, was launched with a new token, LUNA, leaving the original chain to operate without the ability to mint or burn coins.
