Sumokoin (スモコイン in Japanese) is a fork of the Monero cryptocurrency, known for its emphasis on security, privacy, untraceability, and active development. It began as an educational project, aiming to create a new coin with a high level of privacy by employing Ring Confidential Transactions (RingCT) and setting a minimum transaction mixin of 12, making it more resistant to blockchain analysis attacks.

The project was officially launched on May 7, 2017. It has a total supply of 88,888,888 coins in the first 20 years, followed by 263,000 coins per year for inflation. Approximately 10% of the total supply (around 8.8 million coins) was pre-mined for future development, leaving 80 million coins available for community mining.

Sumokoin uses the CryptoNight R (cnR, CNv4) hash algorithm and a proof-of-work emission scheme. The block reward changes every six months, following a "Camel" distribution. The project is decentralized, aligning with Satoshi Nakamoto's vision of trustless, secure digital cash operated by a network of users.
