Los Angeles-based StorageChain, founded in November 2022, was established to offer next-generation decentralized storage and file sharing solutions using web3 technologies. The company gives the first 150GB of storage free and asserts its services are about 75% cheaper than web2 cloud storage solutions. StorageChain uses the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) for secure, peer-to-peer data storage and retrieval, and is built on the Substrate framework, utilizing the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) for blockchain and smart contract compatibility. Several thousand storage/validator nodes form StorageChain's decentralized storage ecosystem, which uses a Proof of Stake (POS) consensus mechanism. Users can earn STOR coins by providing storage and bandwidth services.
