Splinterlands is a collectible, fast-paced blockchain card game blending strategy, collectability, and true digital ownership. The game was built on the HIVE blockchain but supports other blockchains like WAX, BSC, and STEEM via blockchain bridges.
Originally launched as "Steem Monsters," on the STEEM blockchain, the game migrated to the HIVE blockchain after a community split. Splinterlands allows cards to be traded on online marketplaces, providing players with the opportunity to earn real money through ranked plays and tournaments. All that’s needed is an account on a crypto wallet like MetaMask, Wombat, Venly, and players can get started. The game is available on both desktop and mobile devices.
Gameplay Overview
- Cards: The game has over 500 cards in its library, with two main types, Summoners and Monsters. Summoners harness one of six primal forces (Fire, Earth, Water, Life, Death, Dragon, and Neutral) to summon monsters. Monsters participate in battles and can have various abilities that influence gameplay.
- Stats: Cards have stats like Mana Cost, Speed, Armor, and Health that determine their strength.
- Elements: Cards belong to one of seven primal forces, which include Fire, Earth, Water, Life, Death, Dragon, and Neutral (mercenaries).
- Rarity: Cards have different rarities, indicated by their color (Common, Rare, Epic, or Legendary).
