Shilling
The Shilling is a historical and modern monetary unit, formerly used in several British Commonwealth countries and still in use in East African countries. It is equivalent to 12 pence or one-twentieth of a pound. The name "shilling" originates from the Anglo-Saxon phrase "Scilling," meaning literally "twentieth of a pound." Initially, it referred to a gold coin but later evolved to represent silver and billon coins. In contemporary usage, shilling refers to the practice of promoting a cryptocurrency through paid advertisements and endorsements by influential individuals, often to create hype and attract investors.
