Overview
The Shiba Inu (SHIB) token is an Ethereum-based decentralized cryptocurrency that was created in August 2020 by an anonymous developer known as Ryoshi. It is inspired by the Japanese dog breed of the same name, which is also the mascot for Dogecoin.
Ecosystem
The Shiba Inu ecosystem is built on three major tokens: SHIB, LEASH, and BONE. The SHIB token is the primary currency with a total supply of 1 quadrillion tokens, of which half were locked on Uniswap and half were given to Vitalik Buterin. LEASH has a limited supply of 107,646 tokens, used for rewarding ecosystem supporters, while BONE has a total supply of 250 million tokens and serves as a governance token.
Platforms and Services
The ecosystem includes several platforms and tools:
- ShibaSwap: A decentralized exchange (DEX) for trading cryptocurrencies.
- Shiba Inu Incubator: A platform for artists to create and auction non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
- Shiboshis: 10,000 unique NFTs generated on the Ethereum blockchain.
Functionality
Users can "dig" (provide liquidity), "bury" (stake tokens), and "fetch" (exchange one token for another) on ShibaSwap, generating returns in the form of Bone tokens. These returns support the ecosystem by rewarding participants and validating transactions.
