Quarkcoin is a digital currency that improves security through the use of 9 rounds of hashing from 6 different algorithms: blake, bmw, grøstl, JH, keccak, and skein. Three of these rounds apply a random hashing function. This multialgorithm approach contrasts with Bitcoin's use of a single SHA-256 algorithm.

Quarkcoin features no pre-mine and has a block generation time of 30 seconds, with an initial reward of 2048 Quark per block. This reward halves every 60480 blocks, approximately every three weeks. The initial supply of Quark is 247 million and is expected to be mined within roughly six months. After that, the supply will continue to increase at an inflation rate of 0.5% annually. Quarkcoin was launched on July 21, 2013, and its symbol is QRK.
