Token Overview
PLEB is the official token of Plebbit, a decentralized social media platform. It was created in January 2022 and initially ran on the Avalanche Network but was migrated to Ethereum after a successful Snapshot Proposal.
Unique Features
The base protocol does not require tokens to function, allowing non-crypto holders to use it. Tokens are optional for various features such as using names.eth (ENS, NFTs) for user/subplebbit names, NFT images as user avatars, and for voting, curating, rewarding, tipping, or incentivizing within subplebbits. Additionally, tokens can be used for spam protection by requiring users to own, stake, burn, or pay a specific amount for posting or upvoting.
Governance and DAO
Holding PLEB tokens grants membership to a DAO, where members can vote on key decisions like grants, investments, curating whitelisted NFT collections, and submitting proposals.
History
PLEB was originally developed on Avalanche but was migrated to Ethereum after a community-approved proposal. The token holds utility as a governance token and has a wider range of applications beyond its core functionality, making it a distinct token within the broader decentralized social media landscape.
