Origin DeFi Governance (OGV)
Origin DeFi Governance (OGV) is the governance and value accrual token for the Origin Dollar (OUSD) and Origin Ether (OETH). It empowers holders to contribute to the governance of the Origin Dollar protocol by staking and voting on proposals that shape the future of the project. OGV stakers earn a portion of the fees generated and a share of protocol-owned value. This decentralized governance system ensures community-driven decision-making for the Origin Dollar ecosystem.
Governance Structure
The Origin DeFi Governance (OGV) utilizes off-chain and on-chain governance mechanisms. OGV stakers can create and vote on proposals using the Origin DeFi Governance Snapshot space for off-chain voting and the Ethereum blockchain for on-chain governance. The governance contracts are derived from OpenZeppelin's open-source code and require technical expertise to update. A 48-hour timelock ensures added security by preventing changes from taking effect immediately after an on-chain vote is passed.
Origin Dollar (OUSD) and Origin Ether (OETH)
Origin Dollar (OUSD) is a stablecoin that tracks the price of USD, and Origin Ether (OETH) tracks the price of ETH. Both are 100% permissionless and redeemable for their backing assets. They leverage automated smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain, which are governed and controlled by the Origin DeFi Governance token (OGV).
