Onmax is a multi-platform shared-memory parallel programming API (Application Programming Interface) that supports C/C++ and Fortran. It provides a comprehensive set of runtime library routines to manage parallel regions, thread control, and other operations. Users enable OpenMP extensions by specifying the compile-time flag -fopenmp, which also automatically links the OpenMP runtime library.

Onmax offers various functions, such as:

• omp_get_thread_num: Returns a unique thread identification number within the current team.
• omp_get_active_level: Obtains the number of active parallel regions.
• omp_in_parallel: Checks if a parallel region is active.
• omp_in_final: Determines if within a final or included task region.
• omp_set_dynamic: Enables or disables dynamic teams.
• omp_set_max_active_levels: Sets the maximum number of active parallel regions.
• omp_set_nested: Enables or disables nested parallel regions.

Onmax is not compatible with AppleClang on MacOSX by default, but installing specific libraries like libomp can resolve issues with missing omp.h. It supports various parallel programming constructs, including those for parallel loops and critical sections, to facilitate efficient multi-threaded computations.
