Octorand (OCTO) is an ecosystem composed of configurable NFTs, known as Primes, and a deflationary currency called OCTO, all stored on the Algorand blockchain. These Primes have certain traits that can be transformed into words and phrases for gamified competitions. Along with the Primes, the ecosystem also features a growing number of dApps. OCTO is the native utility token used to pay transaction fees within the ecosystem. Launched in January 2022, it issued 1,000 Gen1 Primes containing 1,000 OCTO tokens each, for a total supply of 1,000,000 OCTO. No more OCTO can be created and used OCTO tokens are burned, reducing the supply over time. By August 2022, 218K tokens had been burned, leaving a circulating supply of 781K tokens. Octorand was created by developer Declan Rocco, with the help of Rob Sanders for marketing.
