Nuco.cloud is a decentralized cloud computing platform based on BOINC (Berkley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing), which was originally developed by the Space Science Laboratory in 2002. The platform aims to create a sharing economy for network computing by allowing users to monetize their unused computing power from smartphones, computers, or servers through the nuco.client app. This app connects users' computing resources to form a decentralized "supercomputer" that is sold to clients, with payments made in nuco tokens.
The nuco token can be used to purchase computing power on the platform or exchanged for other cryptocurrencies or fiat money. The project is significant as it is the first blockchain project to receive a grant from the German government.
Additionally, there is a professional version, nuco.compute, targeted towards large enterprises and professional customers. This service offers more control over features and an extra layer of security. Users can choose specific hardware, latency, throughput, and geographic location, ensuring high levels of data security. Calculations are only performed by professional data centers with robust security measures in place.
